Independent Lynchburg Citizen
POST ELECTION UPDATE:
1,683 People!!!! Wow! Thank you to each and every one of you who believed in me, who took a chance on an independent candidate committed to an honest and locally driven campaign. That total number doesn’t include those who supported me and this effort that weren’t able to vote in the Ward 1 election - I’m humbled by the overwhelming love, encouragement, and support we’ve received over the course of this journey from all. While I didn’t win this bid for city council, I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with old friends. For me, running for city council was more than just about winning; it was about standing up for people, focusing on collaboration, and fighting for a better Lynchburg, which is exactly what we did.
Congratulations to Jacqueline Timmer for winning Ward 1. I hope you take the message of “it’s not politics; it’s people” to heart as you take your seat on Council.
Thank you to Randy Smith for running an honest and local-focused campaign. I know you will continue to do great work in the community and I look forward to cheering you on whatever path you take.
To the all nine candidates I shared this journey with, especially Jacqueline and Randy—during the campaign, I called on each of you to donate any unspent funds to our local nonprofits. Now that it's over, I'm urging you to make good on that challenge. Let’s prove our commitment to our community in every way we can.
The remaining money leftover from of my campaign ($2,000.00) was distributed between three organizations helping make Lynchburg better:
CASA of Central Virginia: Advocating for children in foster care or facing neglect, CASA provides trained volunteers to ensure every child has a voice in court and a chance at a safe, loving home. Learn more about their incredible work here: cvcasa.org.
Agape Center Lynchburg: Offering tangible help and hope, Agape connects families in need with essential resources, including food, clothing, and job assistance, while fostering dignity and love. More on their mission: agapelyh.org.
A Sure Word Outreach Ministries – Barley Harvest Food Bank: Serving our community by combating hunger, this organization ensures no family in our area goes without access to nutritious food. Discover their impact: asurewordoutreach.com.
As for me, my work continues. I’ll keep serving on the GLTC board, advocating for the people of Lynchburg, and finding ways to contribute to this wonderful place we all call home. From the bottom of my heart—thank you, Lynchburg. I love this city, and I love each one of you.
Love always,
Cameron

Independent Candidate for Lynchburg City Council Ward 1
It’s not politics, it’s people.
Party politics do not have a place in local matters. These are our neighbors, colleagues, and friends. We are in this together.
I want to help make our corner of the world better. “Howe” will we do this?
